Top pieced and now ready to make up my quilt sandwich. All new fabrics. Was super quick to make up. Blocks measure 5’ square.

I’ve started on the final two quilts for my baby collection. I wanted to go back to basics and make a paper pieced quilt (the first patchwork method I learnt). I’m still deciding whether to piece the flowers directly together or to break them up with a neutral.
The retro 60s fabrics were given to me by a lady I had met when volunteering at an older people’s friendship group, we made patchwork cushions which were used at a fundraiser.
I intend for this quilt to be made solely from upcycled fabrics. Luckily I have a big stash, mostly old clothes and bits picked up at charity shops. But some has been passed down to me by my mother , grandmother or kind folk as mentioned above.

This was completed today. It is another for the collection of baby quilts I am working on. I don’t know how many counts as a ‘collection’… four? five?
Similarly to the post below this quilt measure 40” square. I have quilted this simply along the lighter triangles and then around the border. The fabric used for the brown and cream triangles and brown border all came from the same duvet cover bought from a charity shop for £2.50!
It was inspired by a Jane Brocket’s Sample Book quilt from The Gentle Art of Quilting-Making.

Behold! I have finished my pink baby quilt. It measures approx 40” square.
I have quilted lengthways along each strip using a pink gutermann quilting thread. It is the first time I have used a specialist thread, usually I use a 100% cotton or embroidery thread. I really noticed the difference and will definitely stick to quilting thread for future projects.
I didn’t add on a separate binding, instead bringing the backing fabric to the front and turning it under.

I have been working on a few things to (eventually) put for sale on my site (samanthamakes.co.uk). Patchwork cushion with bobble edging. I used all old fabric. There is a red cotton which has blue mice on, this came from a dolls set my grandmother made.
