Completed baby boy quilt. Measures approx 40” square.

This is a silk hankerchief case that was made from a silk wedding dress in 1872. The inside was quilted and the outside embroidered. I didnt get a picture of the back but it had the couples names and wedding date on. A little different to a plastic pack of kleenex!

The silks on this central panel had rotted away - but it does reveal the carded sheep’s wool that was used for the wadding.

Here are some small baby quilts. The silk one on the right was in immaculate condition.

So boys quilt pieced and backed. I bagged it out (not sure how purist quilters view this technique!) and am now ready to quilt it.
